Service 31: Timetable Changes

1^st April 2001

Mid and South Worcestershire Network changesShow All

• Worcester Local Service 31 between Worcester City Centre and Newtown Hospital is withdrawn. A partial replacement is provided by Service 39 and Service 40, which are rerouted to serve Ronkswood Estate and Newtown Hospital, running every 20-minutes in each direction. Service 41 and Service 43 continue to run every 20-minutes giving a combined 10-minute frequency between the City Centre and the Hospital.

18^th April 2004

On Sunday 18^th April 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a large number of changes to their bus services in Worcestershire. These are a result of both efficiencies introduced by the company and by changes to Worcestershire County Council subsidy strategy.

• Local Worcester Service 26 is withdrawn and replaced by Service 31 which is extended to Henwick Park as a cross-city service.

4^th September 2005

On Sunday 4^th September 2005, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a number of significant changes across all of their operating area. Many of these are the result of changes to contracts issued by Worcestershire County Council and include the launch of “Worcester Express” network to expand and replace the Worcester North Park+Ride Services, and the withdrawal of Malvern area “FlexiLINK” and “EasyLINK” services.

• New “Worcester Express” Service W2 and Service W3 operate as Limited Stop between Worcester City Centre, Shrub Hill and Worcestershire Royal Hospital. Evening and Sunday journeys replace local Worcester Service 31 journeys on this section of the route, and these journeys call at all stops and additionally run via Canterbury Road.

Network changesShow All

• Service 31 and Service 31U are withdrawn and partly replaced by additional Service 31A journeys running with a 20-minute frequency.

Major Service CutsShow All

To quote the First Worcester website... “The covid pandemic has had a significant impact on bus patronage nationally, our habits and way-of-life have changed immeasurably. We're making changes to our services in accordance with how and when people are travelling across the working week and at weekends.”

• Service 31, Service 31A, and Service 37 are all withdrawn. Edit... On Thursday 14^th April 2022 it was announced that the changes to these and Service 32 will be postponed for 3 months following requests from Worcestershire County Council.
