Network changes
On Sunday 18th April 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a large number of changes to their bus services in Worcestershire. These are a result of both efficiencies introduced by the company and by changes to Worcestershire County Council subsidy strategy.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate local Droitwich Spa Service 19, Service 19A, Service 20A and Service 157 passes from First Midland Red Buses Limited to MHS Travel under re-tendering.
- Worcester Local Service 21 between Worcester City Centre, Ombersley Road and Bevere (Green Lane) is withdrawn. Daytime journeys are replaced by Worcester Local Service 32 which is extended to Ombersley Road and Bevere (Green Lane) as a cross-city service. Worcestershire County Council contract to operate evening journeys on Worcester Local Service 21 is cancelled and these journeys are withdrawn without replacement.
- New Service 22 and Service 22A timetable with reduced number of journeys. These services no longer continue to or from Newtown Hospital.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate early morning and evening journeys on local Worcester Service 24 is cancelled and these journeys are withdrawn without replacement.
- Local Worcester Service 26 is withdrawn and replaced by Service 31 which is extended to Henwick Park as a cross-city service.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate local Worcester City Service 27 and Service 27A is cancelled and these journeys are withdrawn by First Midland Red Buses Limited. A replacement service is offered, operated by ??
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate Worcester Local Service 26A is cancelled and the service is withdrawn without replacement.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate early morning and Sunday journeys on Worcester Local Service 32 is cancelled and these journeys are withdrawn without replacement.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate evening Service 46 and Service 46A between Worcester, Great Malvern and Belmont passes from First Midland Red Buses Limited to Astons Coaches under re-tendering. These journeys are cut back to run only between Worcester and Great Malvern and operate as Service 44.
- Worcestershire County Council contract to operate Worcester Local Service 48 is cancelled and the service is withdrawn without replacement.
- Service 142 is withdrawn and replaced by additional journeys on Service 144.
- Service 144 is re-routed in Bromsgrove to serve Stourbridge Road, Princess of Wales Hospital and Catshill. Birmingham Road and Lickey End are no longer served.
- Certain Service 144 evening journeys now withdrawn or only operate on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Local Bromsgrove Service 94 is withdrawn and partly replaced by the changes to Service 144 route.
- New Service 144 timetable with most journeys now run 6 minutes earlier between Worcester and Bromsgrove. Service frequency is reduced to every 2 hours on Sundays.
