This photo is of interest to me for 3 reasons -
The S9 is still in it's original livery featuring black wheel-arch/ mudguards and gold lining.
The photo and lighting show how the bodywork is just starting it's "downhill journey".
(You may disagree?)
This is the only photo at Portland Road, that I've seen.
(Does anyone know of any others?)

As an outstation of Worcester depot, it is not always easy to identify which vehicles were running from Worcester and which were running from Portland Road... They were all given the same WR allocation code. BMMO S9 fleet numbers 3419, 3423, 3424, and 3453 were all known to have been semi-permanent at Portland Road before being lengthened and converted to 44-seat layout in May 1952, so seeing as this is seen at the Malvern Wells terminus in original 40-seat length with the display set for a Malvern route I think it's fair to assume it was working from Portland Road at the time. We may well have seen more without knowing it!
