Published by Midland Red West marketing in mid-1998, Spotlight On Beaver 2 was not, as some have suggested, a sequel to their favourite adult entertainment film, but was in fact the name given to a six page leaflet to promote the company’s new Mercedes-Benz O.814 Vario midibus fleet. The unfortunate title came about as these vehicles were fitted with the mark two version of Plaxton’s Beaver bodywork and, before repaints started in 2002, carried the designation “Beaver 2” on the sides and rear.
The leaflet was delivered with the local free newspaper to homes in and
around Worcester in 1998 to promote the launch of the new vehicles, due
to replace the ageing Mercedes-Benz L608D
“Citibus” fleet at Worcester (Padmore Street) depot on Sunday 2nd August 1998.
