From the late 1920s, Service 418 was operated by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) as a variation to Service 417. In the early 1930s, Service 418 ran one return journey between Worcester, Cradley and Mathon Village on Saturdays only.
By 1935, Service 418 additionally ran on Tuesdays for Ledbury Market Day, and these journeys continued past Mathon Village to Colwall and Ledbury Town Centre, replacing Service 473 that had previously run over this route between Worcester, Ledbury and Hereford. Service 473 was reduced to run only between Ledbury, Colwall and Mathon Village at this time.
The route was suspended during the Second World War and was not reinstated afterwards, with Mathon Village being served by certain Service 417 journeys being diverted. The Ledbury, Colwall and Mathon Village section of the route was served by additional Service 473 journeys.
