7029 'Clun Castle' on charter at Worcester 6 April 2019.

7029 'Clun Castle' is pictured at Worcester Shrub Hill on Saturday 6 April 2019 where it took on water for the rest of journey between Dorridge and Oxford via Cheltenham and Swindon. This locomotive was designed by Charles Collett and built at BR Swindon Works 05/1950; the double chimney and 4 row super-heater were fitted 10/59. Castle Class locomotives were used on main line express passenger services and 7029 was withdrawn 12/1965. It was acquired for preservation a few months later and has been based at Tyseley Locomotive Works ever since. The standard of restoration is exceptional and line-side watchers can be assured of a magnificent soundtrack!

Bringing up the rear is Tyseley's Class 47 D1755/47773 which was designed and built at Brush Works, Loughborough in 08/1964. It was renumbered 47161 in 11/1974, 47541 in 12/79 and 47773 in 12/93. It has Co-Co wheel arrangement and is fitted with a 2,580 BHP Sulzer 12LDA28C twin bank 12 cylinder diesel engine which drives a Brush main generator providing power to the Brush electric traction motors. These locomotives were used on main line express passenger work and heavy freight, so very much a 'maid of all work' type which could be seen working almost anywhere on the British railway network in their heyday.
