Today, Saturday morning 15 July 2023, was quite busy for just over an hour at Worcester Shrub Hill for modern and heritage diesel locomotives, seen in order of appearance;
Recently repainted DBS 66054 working through platform 1 with loaded Margam to Round Oak steel train;
GBRF 66785 running light engine from Doncaster Roberts Road Shed to Moreton-in-Marsh for a naming ceremony. The blanked out name plate is visible just above the large logo loco number in the main shot;
GBRF 56081 and 47749 'City of Truro' seen working into platform 2 from Leicester LIP to Severn Valley Railway. The train changed ends and it returned north to Kidderminster where it will presumably deliver the two barrier coaches?
Finally DBS 66047 'Maritime Intermodal Two' is seen running through the 'back road' with return steel empties from Round Oak to Margam;
Diesel locomotives at Shrub Hill
Re: Diesel locomotives at Shrub Hill
Rail Operations Group 37884 'Cepheus' ran in to Worcester Shrub Hill today, Wednesday 19 July 2023, from Derby RTC and reversed into the middle line stabling point to act as a stand-by locomotive for the hydrogen test unit booked into Worcester from Long Marston. In the event the test unit working was cancelled.
IET 800018 passes en route from Paddington to Great Malvern.
172215 runs into Shrub Hill from Dorridge, the driver will change ends and the train will then make the short journey to Worcester Foregate Street. It will make another reverse here and form the next train to Stratford-upon-Avon via Shrub Hill and make another reverse manoeuvre; three in 15 minutes!
158749 is working the Salisbury to Worcester Foregate Street service, it has made a circuitous journey via Trowbridge, Chippenham, Swindon and Gloucester and will return a few minutes later to Bristol Temple Meads.
196007, 196105 and 196112 seen lined up in the stabling point to east of Shrub Hill Station.
Re: Diesel locomotives at Shrub Hill
Excellent stuff. Wish we still had the 37s down here - some excellent footage on Youtube but it's not the same!
