TWM Wythall Museum article
Re: TWM Wythall Museum article
Thanks for posting the article about The Transport Museum, Wythall with a resume of the 2023 programme. It is good to see positive marketing, but I am just a bit concerned that there is no mention of the large collection of BMMO/Midland Red historic vehicles.
Since a certain well respected Trustee resigned, the emphasis seems to be on West Midlands and Birmingham City Transport buses nowadays. Please don't get me wrong, I am a firm fan of the Birmingham standard Guys, Daimlers and Crossleys, but it seems to have been forgotten that Midland Red had the biggest fleet outside London throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s with services covering a vast area of the Midlands. It was also a highly innovative major Birmingham based manufacturer of buses and coaches to their own designs for over 50 years with Carlye Works own-built engines, something which neither BCT or TWM concerns ever achieved.

The Birmingham trams finished in 1953, not 1948. Sack the press release writer!!
