DD12 Revival
Re: DD12 Revival
Excellent photos, thanks Adam !
Both shots show some of the upper-deck interior pink ceiling paint or plastic (coving?), and the (unique) front view shows the bell-push strip in the ceiling that runs from front to back - an optical illusion making it look more substantial than it is (I think).

Great photos Adam. That Midland Red Classic is almost as old as me Lol
The only difference is it looks a damn sight better than I do at 50 years Lol

I think I know why 6015 has been brought to Worcester for attention

If you would like to see what Worcester buses looked like in the late 1970,s or early 1980,s sadly no double deckers for that you will have see the film I shot in Leicester https://www.flickr.com/photos/dofartsha ... TEo-dLP7SS

A sample of what 6015 looks like underneath, and the reason it doesn't get out and about...
Re: DD12 Revival
Perhaps we should name this bus "Joan Collins"
Re: DD12 Revival
Yeah I've found it She ended up in the body shop pretty much ignored by everyone and I've sort of found myself ending up taking stock of what needs doing to her. She's really not that bad but does require a lot of love and time.
I met Jeremy from the museum on Thursday and we had a chat about what areas require the most immediate attention. The worst being the framework immediately below the emergency exit and the OS of the main chassis crossmember in front of the engine and gearbox. It's no worse than my Rover p5b that I spent 2 years restoring under my carport, just a little bigger and heavier...
The museum are going to sort out some materials so I can make a start on making this area secure and I can then tackle the crossmember issues and replace a couple of body outriggers which are rough on the ends.
Most of the skirt panels will need to be removed because the posts they are riveted to are badly corroded but hopefully I can remove these without damaging any of the shiny paintwork.
When all the structure is sorted the plan is to crack on with the mechanical work and try to get her tested and back on the road.
Time as always is a big factor and I seem to have very little of it. Obviously our buses need to come first and we are always busy with our own engine rebuilds, mot preps, servicing etc.
The other time factor which is going to make things difficult is that after the 30th March next year I won't be here for 6 months or more as I'm going travelling in my VW camper. Obviously a full restoration in this timescale is not possible but I will try and do my best to get her ( does she have a name?) ready for the road before I go.
Re: DD12 Revival
Thanks for your "report" and all your efforts Mechwr26, - and Good Luck !
Re: DD12 Revival
It's been a good few days for 6015...
On Monday I saw Mechwr26 attacking the rot with a large hammer and a cutting torch, but his fun was cut short by a problem with a StreetLite. Yesterday he got most of the day to work on 6015 and all of the rot from around the bottom of the emergency door has now gone, and lots of new shinny bits have now been welded in place.
It has also had another visit from the museum engineers and they have bought a sizeable amount of parts and materials with them.

Excellent progress.
Is that really a Daimler? It looks like more like one of my Fords underneath
