I've known that driver for over 20-years as he's ex-Midland Red West. I'll have to remember to give him some stick when I next see him!

The trouble as I see it is that bus+coach fires seem to have got significantly more frequent in recent years (?) and therefore the risk to life and limb is worsening.
I wonder if there is a link with emission control systems that use high temperatures to work (even if it's the electrical bits that catch fire) ??
I'm surprised that I haven't noticed any articles on "Route One" on the subject !

I don't know about the causes, but the NX advice I used to get was that after evacuating passengers, fight the fire 'if safe to do so'. It never is, and never will be, safe to do so. Get away and let it burn.
