Shakespeare Express 2026

Today, Sunday 17 May 2026, saw the return of the Vintage Trains 'Shakespeare Express' hauled by GWR Castle 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' from Worcester Shrub Hill where it is seen prior to departing for Stratford-upon-Avon. The train was hauled in as empty coach stock by diesel locomotive 37240, regret I was unable to take a good shot of it. Last year this working ran direct into and departed from Platform 2 at Shrub Hill, but this time around it ran through the yard and reversed near Wylds Lane junction and then started out from platform 1. The attached photographs are a bit dark and the platform somewhat crowded, but plenty of atmosphere!
