44637 repainted

Post by TimBrown » 06:39 Wednesday 18th February 2026

I'm a bit late with this one; ADL Enviro 200 44637, reg. no. MX14 FUH is now showing on Bustimes website as being repainted which makes a total of six Worcester buses in the new First Bus corporate livery, but it has taken twelve months to achieve this!

I thought the two ex-Somerset buses, 44637 and 44639, were very tidy bodywise and looked neat in that green livery, so why they have been repainted in preference to the rest of the very tatty buses, which don't appear to have been repainted in 12 to 14 years of service, is open to conjecture.

44589 is now away in Stoke getting a new coat of paint which will make 7.

Many operators do the repaints when the vehicle MOT is due so the MOT prep and repaint can be done together as a good use of time as the vehicle is usually off the road for 2-3 weeks for the repaint and by delaying the MOT test until it is due back on the road gets them a few more weeks extra before the vehicle has to be tested again to following year

Thanks Reddibus, - I had never thought of that, but it explains why (in modern times) I've seen freshly repainted buses in Padmore Street garage, being worked on for at least a week !
Presumably "they" do a thorough check of "big £" MOT items first before sending the bus for a repaint !
