No Salt Road buses on the 144 today.

Post by TimBrown » 14:34 Wednesday 24th January 2024

Why are there no 'Salt Road' liveried buses on the 144 today Wednesday 24 January 2024?
According to Bustimes website at 14-15 today, one worked the morning S2, another is on the 44, yet another on the 30 and two are working the X50. Has branding gone out of the window under Wales and West management? Are the decent Volvos about to be replaced by more Streetlites? I also note that there is only one Mercedes Citaro remaining in the 35 'Nimrod' livery and the outward bound bus stop signs have only recently been changed to this brand! Oh, and Worcester still seems to abound with a variety of interpretations of the First Bus corporate livery; will the fleet be repainted in a universal 'Worcester' red or green in the ensuing years, or has that idea been quietly put back indefinitely?

If bustimes.org is to be believed, the last Merc in Nimrod livery has now been withdrawn.

I always thought it was a stupid branding anyway ! -- almost as bad as Wandaward and Wendaway !!

It related directly to the famous resident, Sir Edward Elgar of course, who lived at Marlbank on Rainbow Hill for many years so is quite relevant to the 35 service. Some thoughts at the time branding was being considered included 'Brickfields Bus', 'Blackpole Bus', 'Warndon Wanderer', 'Route 35' (in bold on both lower side panels), 'Rainbow' (market as 'ride the Rainbow'), 'Rainbow Rider'. Think of the wonderful livery that goes with either 'Rainbow' idea! Unfortunately there isn't very much of historical interest in the Warndon Estate only reference to the previous productive arable land it is built on.

Suggested 'Northwick Green' with a Green and cream livery for the 37 but that has gone the same way as the Catshill to Birmingham section of the 144. In any case the way Worcester First Bus operates they seem unable to keep the branded buses to the correct routes most of the time!

Prize for the most self-serving inane graphic goes to 'We are Worcester City' spoiling the otherwise instantly recognisable latest corporate livery. First Bus you are not Worcester City, please note Worcester City is a residential area which goes back over 2,000 years to Roman times, hence the 'cester' in its name. First Bus should change the rubbish logo to 'We SERVE Worcester City'

Maybe Worcester and District for bus branding ? It look like three "green 'uns" have made it onto the 144 this afternoon.

Noted from a distance earlier today on the 144 - one of the X50 branded Volvo Plaxtons, also if Bustimes is correct , the Volvo Plaxton in Worcester livery is on the X50. :)
