Diesel locomotives at Shrub Hill

Post by TimBrown » 11:44 Saturday 15th July 2023

Today, Saturday morning 15 July 2023, was quite busy for just over an hour at Worcester Shrub Hill for modern and heritage diesel locomotives, seen in order of appearance;
Recently repainted DBS 66054 working through platform 1 with loaded Margam to Round Oak steel train;

GBRF 66785 running light engine from Doncaster Roberts Road Shed to Moreton-in-Marsh for a naming ceremony. The blanked out name plate is visible just above the large logo loco number in the main shot;

GBRF 56081 and 47749 'City of Truro' seen working into platform 2 from Leicester LIP to Severn Valley Railway. The train changed ends and it returned north to Kidderminster where it will presumably deliver the two barrier coaches?

Rail Operations Group 37884 'Cepheus' ran in to Worcester Shrub Hill today, Wednesday 19 July 2023, from Derby RTC and reversed into the middle line stabling point to act as a stand-by locomotive for the hydrogen test unit booked into Worcester from Long Marston. In the event the test unit working was cancelled.

It will make another reverse here and form the next train to Stratford-upon-Avon via Shrub Hill and make another reverse manoeuvre; three in 15 minutes!

Excellent stuff. Wish we still had the 37s down here - some excellent footage on Youtube but it's not the same!
