The is a Trade Registration number and would have been passed from vehicle to vehicle as needed.

This may possibly be 1957 build BMMO D7, Fleet No. 4761, Reg No. 761 BHA which spent a number of years at Shrewsbury garage as their recovery/towing vehicle in the photographed cut-down form. If so, it went into preservation as a source of spares; does it still exist?
