1960s photographs.
1960s photographs.
Found these pictures hiding in an old diary, my guess would be taken in the late 1960s or very early 1970s, the photographer is not known. I reckon a certain double-decker enthusiast may be interested in the Worcester Bridge shots!
Any ideas where this Scottish Cruise picture was taken?

Those are great photos. Some interesting old cars there too!
Re: 1960s photographs.
Excellent treat ( - on this traditional, cold wet bank holiday ), thanks Tim !!
Both the photos of DD12s on Worcester bridge, are great, and I can see only one foreign-made vehicle amongst all that lot !!
( - The Renault 4 was the "most fun" old car I ever owned !!)
Unfortunately I cannot pinpoint an exact date for them, but it would be not long after November 1967,
- is that a woman driver in 6053 ? ( - I cannot remember seeing any back then, but I expect some conductresses were trained as one-person-operation was being rolled-out.
6093 appears to have it's original advert, and is also on one of the cross-river city services -- -- I don't have a record of the date these were converted to double-decker operation, but I expect it was November 1967 (?)
Of particular interest to me are the number blinds and the destination blinds, -- --
On both DD12s, the upper "A-roller blind" showing CITY SERVICE appears to me to be older than the lower "B-roller blind", and though I believe it was normal practice to re-use destination blinds to avoid waste and expense, I only remember seeing NEW blinds in the DD12s when they were new ( - and I was a kid ! ).
The "A" blind in 6053 in particular, looks older, - but could it have got that faded (and "dirty") in the short period of time since the bus was new ?? ( - after all, it would have been constantly displaying "CITY SERVICE" ).

Re: 1960s photographs.
Two ammendments :-
I now think the "A" blind in 6053 must be older than the others, rather than more faded,
- otherwise the number blinds would surely look more faded also !!
Also, in the same photo, I've spotted an American car, and a headless man !!
Re: 1960s photographs.
The headless man may be John Cleese as he seems to be practising the 'Ministry of Silly Walks' sketch as well as losing his head.
