That Eastern Scottish coach is seriously cool
Re: May 2010 Aston Manor & Wythall Event Pt. I
Yes it is a Seddon Pennine VII coach with Gardner 6HLXB engine, ZF 6 speed gearbox and Alexander M type bodywork for use on Eastern Scottish's Edinburgh to London service in the late 1970s. Reports differ as to the top speed but it was given as 76 MPH or 85 MPH, either way a good bit in hand at the then 70 MPH motorway limit for coaches. Whatever, I reckon it would have been possible to cruise at or near that maximum as the 6HLXB revved to a relatively modest 1,850 RPM compared with Leopards and Volvos 2,200/2,400 RPM of the time.
