October changes
Re: October changes
Word from the canteen is that all the drivers are up in arms because the running times are impossible. Not just on the 37, that’s a general moan.
Re: October changes
The timetables were probably done by a bloke sitting in an office miles away with no knowledge of Worcester and it's traffic
Re: October changes
Then senior management are making a rod for their own back, because persistent late running taking no account of the dreadful traffic conditions experienced in Worcester's cramped streets will lead inevitably to a severe reprimand from the Traffic Commissioners and an order to fit the timetables to the conditions on threat of withdrawal of licences as happened to First Bus in Bristol not so many years ago. This kind of cost cutting shows lack of understanding of local operating conditions and a dearth of fresh marketing ideas to boost the marginal routes; withdrawal of services and 'use it or lose it' mantra in a city of over 100.000 people is an appalling way to treat many long standing services. Just what is going on?
Re: October changes
Tim, I've just noticed there's a 17.45 departure from Crowngate to Bevere, in the new 37 leaflet -- -- is that an extra one ? ( - I haven't got a copy of the old T-T).
Re: October changes
Yes our last 37 bus was 17-15 before 13 October 2019. The 17-45 is conveniently running 5 minutes after the 17-40 Diamond 303, more or less confirming my comments above!

Re: October changes
Prior to 13 October 2019 the 37 at 09-30 am from Green Lane to Crowngate carried a very good load of passengers, mainly pensioners on concessionary passes and it was often full and standing in a Citaro by the time it reached Barbourne. This week the replacement service operating at 09-18 am has not been carrying any pensioners and only had 4 passengers aboard when it departed the New Inn with 33404 this morning, I wonder why! Incidentally the Diamond 303 service from Kidderminster runs past the New Inn at 09-14 am (4 minutes before the 37!) - that too is very poorly patronised since they dropped the 'Twirly Fare' of £1-50 before 09-30 am for pensioners. The only silver lining - I did manage to obtain a couple of photos of our remaining heritage bus in service before it is sprayed back to standard livery and departs for pastures new.
Re: October changes
Still looks fantastic.
Re: October changes
Still one of the best retro liveries ever, hard to believe that it was five years ago this week that it was unveiled at Worcester Racecourse. I'll be sad to see it go. Next retro livery should be a saloon in Midland Red West colours, Mr Eggleton I can lend you 544 as a pattern if you need it...
Re: October changes
If we are still going to get Geminis to replace the Tridents I would like to advocate one of those being in MRW red+cream !943KHA wrote: ↑19:58 Friday 18th October 2019Still one of the best retro liveries ever, hard to believe that it was five years ago this week that it was unveiled at Worcester Racecourse. I know there were never any DDs in MRW livery, but as I had to go 26 years with no DDs in public service in Worcester, it could be seen as - "an overdue treat" !!
( ..... and MRW might have survived til 2004).
