On 26 August 2017 we were fortunate to have a charter from London Paddington to Worcester hauled by A4 60009 'Union of South Africa'.
The main line ticket for this locomotive is due to expire in 2018 and the owner will be putting it on static display in a museum in Scotland, so this may be the last time it visits Worcester, possibly never again.
Note the colour light signal which has been installed opposite the signal box since the visit of 'Duchess of Sutherland on 17 August 2017. The South end of platform one is to be extended as far as the new signal to accommodate the new IEP trains which will have longer carriages and bigger formations than current HSTs.

Shrub Hill being modernised? Surly not!TimBrown wrote: ↑12:22 Tuesday 5th September 2017...Note the colour light signal which has been installed opposite the signal box since the visit of 'Duchess of Sutherland on 17 August 2017. Will they be pulling up the weeds at the same time?
Re: 60009 at Worcester 26 August 2017.
Unfortunately, the lift reinstatement programme started in September 2015 was put on the backburner after the old overbridge was found to be too corroded for removal and refurbishment off-site, this despite more than £1 million allocated for the task. Meanwhile wheelchairs, buggies and disabled who cannot manage the stairs have to be escorted to the north end of the station to walk or be pushed across the track. At least the walk is compensated by a close up view of the Network Rail garden - a weed is by definition only a plant in the wrong place!Shrub Hill being modernised? Surely not!

A week or so ago two men were walking up and down the track hand spraying some weed killer on the garden, however, as it was raining at the time the plants look stronger now than before the treatment which evoked a rueful smile from yours truly.
