Noticed d/d SN65OJB on this duty yesterday afternoon. Not sure if this happens on a regular basis though. :)

I cannot find a summary / info about this service.

Presumably this is a Johnsons college contract worked from Johnsons main depot (?)
Can anyone tell me the route please, - - and are Johnsons or Whittles using any DDs in the Kidderminster or Bromsgrove areas please ?? ;)

Is this the Heart of Worcestershire College Inter-Campus Redditch - Bromsgrove contract?

Johnsons bought its 3 Enviro 400MMCs for the X20 Stratford - Birmingham service, but they have been used elsewhere at times. For a while last year, one was scheduled to operate Stratford - Banbury school journeys. Two are now scheduled for the Stratford Park & Ride service on Saturdays.

I sometimes see the 1635 X20 Birmingham - Stratford journey, and in the past week this has been operated by an Optare Tempo (instead of the usual E400) at least twice.

That is correct, in the mid-eighties, Bromsgrove College as it was then known, acquired a Bedford / Plaxton coach - ENM 1 T [new to Smith of Tring] to operate this service, it was maintained by Worcestershire County Council at either its Warndon or Lydiate Ash depots. Late in 1991 ,H&WCC acquired and operated a Optare Delta bus - J 26 GCX on this working, this bus was sold in early 2002. I am not sure if Johnsons took this work on in 2002 , maybe some one with a better memory knows otherwise. ;) Interestingly , Johnsons also used [at times] Optare buses on these workings , i.e., P913/914SUM which were new to British Telecom , Goonhilly , Cornwall.

This shot taken of Johnson's Optare Excel P914 SUM in Redditch on 15 June 2012. This bus was new 04/97 so 15 years old at the time of photograph - probably why it looked at bit work worn!

Nice shot, love the old d/d also. There are quite a few pictures of 913/914 on Flickr showing the two buses on plenty of Johnsons routes , including the X50. My copy of "Busview" suggests that Bromsgrove College owned former Midland Red coach GHA 333D during the mid eighties - not sure if they ever operated it though ? :?

Maybe elderly in years but used by BT for internal visitor transport at the Goonhilly Satellite Station on the Lizard. I remember visiting there and travelling on one on a journey of no more than a few hundred yards so probably quite a low mileage when bought by Johnsons. I was quite surprised when the next time I saw it, it was quite near home on the inter campus shuttle.

I had always thought that Johnson's was the best operator in the local area until I saw the condition of this bus, if you look closely there seems to be duct tape covering up some splitting in the glass fibre dome either side of the destination blind and there is a large split in the offside front lower panel below the driver's side window. Neither of these bodywork defects had been remedied by October of 2012 some five months after the first picture taken. In addition the paintwork looked shabby and the bus had a rather uncared for external appearance about it which lowered my impression of this operator. I wonder if it has become the norm for operators of stage carriage low-floor buses to expect a certain amount of damage and patch it up in a way which just wouldn't be tolerated on their prestigious coaches?
