Weekend Holiday for Citaros
Weekend Holiday for Citaros
Being slow on the uptake, I have only recently realised what a useful tool the Bustimes website is to the local bus enthusiast. A strange fact is emerging that the Citaros are just not used on the weekends, even the 35 was being worked on Sunday 23 May 2021 by Volvo/Centros 66694/5/6 – so why are the ‘Nimrod’ buses not being used and why did just two of our 23 Citaros venture out on Saturday 22 May 2021. Is it because they drink fuel at an alarming rate, or problems with the seating arrangements, or better still, are we about to lose them for something green and pleasant to Euro 6 exhaust spec?
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
I was going to post yesterday saying that apart from "spare buses" , Citaro's very rarely appear on the 144/a , so you guessed it , the second bus I see on a 144 yesterday morning was of course , Citaro "15".
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
I doubt we'll see them on the 144 anymore as the LEZ in Birmingham starts next week I believe. So would that mean only the salt road Volvo's and streetdecks will be the only ones able to enter the LEZ?
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
Fair point , although I should have put the "short" 144 workings that turn around at Bromsgrove. This can produce the odd different vehicle from time to time. The X50 liveried Volvos spring to mind.
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
I've always wondered why don't they make the short running 144 to say a 144B would be easier for everyone in the long run
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
Only Salt Road buses and Streetdecks have ventured to Birmingham for over a year now, if anything else is allocated, it is quickly replaced with a Euro 6 vehicle.
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
Have the two grey spare bus Citaros been upgraded to Euro 6 exhaust standard, and if so have they found their way all the way to Birmingham on the 144?
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
I drove one of them today, and it has the same dash display as Euro6 vehicles (it is a two light display, red and yellow)
Re: Weekend Holiday for Citaros
I just had a look on Bustimes website and by a strange coincidence 64033 worked a short 144A to Catshill and then operated;
144 Crowngate depart 14-20 Birmingham arrive 16-15.
Birmingham depart 16-25 Crowngate arrive 18-05.
Anyone photograph it in Birmingham?
