FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
Prefer 'WENDAWAY' as on 5956 but if someone when painting it on left a letter off the beginning it became rather smutty..
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
I think Redditch depot can better that...
Many years ago a National was prepped and sent for a repaint, but before it went an engineer decided to paint a large image of a gentleman's private area on the roof, safe in the knowledge his joke would be painted over.
For whatever reason the roof was overlooked at the paint shop and it returned to service with the additional roof art still in place. As many of you know, Plymouth Road garage has little more than a shed for offices, and with no double-deck buses in the fleet nobody ever got high enough to see it... That is until it went to Kidderminster garage several months later and was spotted by a manager who happened to look out of his first-floor office window.

Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
I saw this buzz today, and it did look a bit sad; - it still had Midland Red on the front though.
A candidate for a repaint (As I think someone else said).
33404 still looks great.
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
I agree that 33404 still looks presentable.
67664 appears reasonable until you look at the rear. Successive use of Christmas promotional vinyls and their removal has left large areas of bare metal on the rear engine cover panel;- that could do with removing and tidying up, by rubbing down, priming and top-coating with matching spray paint. I note there is quite a bit of corrosion under the black painted rear window surround too. That said, please let's try and keep this distinctive bus in red for as long as possible, it does stand out from the rest when seen on the road in service!
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
Have First stopped repainting into the new livery as i haven't seen much discussion on the subject for a few months?
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
67652 returned from the paint shop in Urban2 on Thursday and went back into service on Friday without "Worcester" or any other fleetnames etc. Today it is back in the garage and is partly fitted with graphics. I believe another E300 went to the paint shop in its place but don't know which one.

Thanks Adam!
Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
As noted on another thread, 42893 is in Worcester body shop to have its nose repainted into the correct colour. It looks like this is being done in-house as it was slowly disappearing under masking plastic as I finished work today.
Not one of my best photographic efforts, but this was the view from the walkway as captured on my phone.

Re: FMR: Refurbs and Repaints
Front of 43893 is being painted as I type. I would get a photo but the body shop man is very shy so I'll wait until he's finished.
