When new the doors were electric but they were very unreliable and converted to standard some time ago. As with all StreetLites, the brakes lock on when the doors are open but the electric system wasn’t as strong as compressed air and so the doors would open slightly sometimes when you hit a bump, causing the brakes to slam on while the bus was moving. It was frequently off the road in its early life trying to fix the problem, in the end they gave up.
From memory, other weight saving measures included a thinner floor and handrails/uprights. There were probably other things too. As someone else said above, the savings were not great.

That's the bit I remember, it did it to me coming down Rainbow Hill, fortunately empty!AdamH wrote: ↑08:32 Tuesday 20th November 2018When new the doors were electric but they were very unreliable and converted to standard some time ago. Belated update for this vehicle... After much head scratching they decided it could be fixed at Worcester, and it is now back on the road.
