FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions
Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions
Very much so in my dim and distant past, saw many 'heavy', progressive and blues bands live at such venues as Malvern Winter Gardens, The Wharf at Holt Fleet, The Coppertops and a place whose name I forget just off Broad Street in Birmingham. Never got involved in the drugs that plagued and killed many of the best names in the industry, but admit to getting too much ale down my neck; but not touched alcohol for ten years now.
I nearly suggested 'Stairway to Heaven' vinyls for the 35 or the Malverns 44s but modern youth would probably prefer a rap title (which I have no interest in).
Have to admit that the new 35 livery looks classy and should prove to be an education to many of the route's passengers if a description of Sir Edward and his compositions is placed inside the buses.

Could it have been The Opposite Lock in Gas Street Basin just off Broad St., Birmingham?TimBrown wrote: ↑05:39 Monday 26th November 2018Very much so in my dim and distant past, saw many 'heavy', progressive and blues bands live at such venues as Malvern Winter Gardens, The Wharf at Holt Fleet, The Coppertops and a place whose name I forget just off Broad Street in Birmingham. Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions
That sounds familiar, but I am going back over forty years - saw ELO which was a revelation at the time; rock and roll plus strings.chason wrote: ↑11:24 Monday 26th November 2018Could it have been The Opposite Lock in Gas Street Basin just off Broad St., Birmingham?TimBrown wrote: ↑05:39 Monday 26th November 2018

Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions
Yes, my era too, I'm afraid. Saw Bev Bevan from ELO and The Move on stage at Malvern last year together with Jasper Carrot - both still going strong. (Sorry, right off topic now!)
Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions
Sorry - again off topic, I saw Bev Bevan with Jasper at Solihull a few years ago, still brilliant. They in January saw Roy Wood, fantastic, and a few weeks ago, saw Jeff Lynne's ELO at Birmingham Arena - 90 minutes of solid hits, I came out hoarse after singing along with all the songs. Getting back to buses, that is the first time I have been to Central Birmingham for over a year now, the last time I did a 144, I broke down at Bromsgrove on the return journey and missed the second one. I must say that I don't miss going to the second city one little bit.

….. And, tying-in with the musical livery of 5 of the new Mercedes -- --
I think it's worth mentioning here that one of the most famous bus images of all time, is the ex-Worcester D7 - 4111 THA111, repainted for the album cover of The Who's "Magic Bus" L.P.
I see that Adam has not included a copy / photo of this on the main website and I guess this is because of copyrights, but one only has to enter the appropriate words into Google search !
