BSIP+ money (Tewkesbury improvements)

Using BSIP+ money, Gloucestershire County Council have issued contracts to improve a number of evening and Sunday services in the county, with the Tewkesbury area getting a significant slice of the pie... Service 41 running between Ashchurch (Station), Tewkesbury and Cheltenham now has an hourly eve...

Re: Funding for Worcestershire Transport

...I haven't seen any published figures but how financially viable is Worcestershire County Council, are they in a similar perilous state as Birmingham? I may be wrong but First Bus do not seem to have a particularly good working relationship with Worcestershire County Council judging by all the la...

Re: Cheltenham Festival 2022

Cheltenham Festival is almost upon us again. I'll be at Cheltenham Rail Station on the Monday greeting the loan buses as they arrive from Stagecoach depots across the country, then I'll be driving Tuesday to Friday. PVR is expected to be the same as the last two years, at 80 to 85, all of them doubl...

Some may argue that this is a clear example of Fir...

Is it increased loadings or more drivers recruited that has brought this about - or both?
Both. There is still a shortage of drivers, but it's no way near as bad as it was this time last year.

Re: Service uplift (Cheltenham to Gloucester)

I used it last night to get into Cheltenham Town Centre to meet friends for Christmas drinks. It was one of the Gold double-decks and we had almost a full seated load when we arrived in Cheltenham. Admittedly it's Christmas and the uplift hasn't started yet, but that was still a bit of a surprise at...

Service uplift (Cheltenham to Gloucester)

It been a long battle, but Service 94 running between Cheltenham and Gloucester is finally returning to pre-Covid frequency levels, from 7th January 2024. The frequency has been sat at 6 buses an hour for a while now, but from the above date it will go to 8 buses an hour. This is a 24-hour service, ...
