Re: Cornish China Clay
Thanks, Matt. Super photos, particularly of the Fowey branch, one of the most scenic in the country I always think. Some 25 years or so ago I did it on an HST charter train and I've always thought what a pity it is it isn't used for passenger trains as a tourist line. If ever the docks were to close...

Re: The MR Atlanteans that never were!
Dudley garage provided some duplicates on the 144 on Bank Holidays when the occasional GD6 was to be seen in Malvern. Compared to the BMMO post war double deckers they always looked much older than they were. The BMMO engines were less powerful than the originals and were fitted because the fuel con...

Re: Statesman Charter to Kingswear 28 Aug.2020
Thanks for posting. Not many charters around at the moment which could explain the decent loading.

Re: New Home page
What a depressing thought (for me at any rate)! I'd not really thought about myself in those terms but DD12 may well be right. I am actually 77 but they say you are as young as you feel which on some days is well over that but, fortunately for me, on most others very considerably less. It certainly ...

Re: Yet More Buses for Catshill
This week's Bromsgrove Standard, in response to 'copius complaints' about the rerouted 202, quotes a Diamond spokesperson as saying that it operated at a financial loss which could no longer be sustained. She went on "The former 202 presented a number of operational difficulties and despite tri...

Re: Yet More Buses for Catshill
I observed my first 44 working this afternoon , being worked by one of Diamonds Metrocity buses. Small time table notices have been attached to the appropriate bus shelter and workings are displayed on the electric bus timetable display screen. The only thing missing was passengers . . . . . . ;) A...

Thanks, Tim, for the comprehensive info on these dual purpose vehicles. During my younger days, Malvern garage had two, 3931 and 3972, and used mainly on MN local services but occasionally on day trips and the Sunday evening mystery trip. The rattling, particularly the seats when not being sat on, w...

Re: Pandemic -- DD usage
WoW !! - - Thanks for that info bmmoboy and chason !! It makes me drool, just to think of those scenes -- -- it's a shame there aren't more photos of them, -- if someone will lend me a time machine, I'll go back and get them !! Mind you, I've been told that a greater proportion of pubs served only ...

Re: Pandemic -- DD usage
On Bank Holidays of old, single deckers as well as doubles were used on the 144. In fact, it was quite usual for Hereford garage to run on Malvern local services to release their single deckers and crews for the 144. Oldbury, Hartshill, Dudley, Sutton Coldfield and Bearwood also provided double deck...
