Re: Service 36

I do not understand what first have done to the 36 they get a better Sunday service than a weekday service the last bus on a Monday to Friday is a 1430 Weird! Presumably only possible to fit this bit in between school services Monday to Friday; shortage of buses and drivers I guess. This was my com...

Re: MRN Tiger/EL2000 Rebodies - How Many Left?

Here is an extract from my latest book covering fleetlist and allocations of Midland Red NBC, Midland Red East/Fox, Midland Red North and Arriva Midlands from 1973 to 2015. If this has whetted your appetite I can supply the 247 page book for £22-50. Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/2R chassis with Eastern Coac...

Re: BaMMOT Event day Monday 29 August 2016

LD8 4031 was also immaculate and a joy to ride on. I used to travel to school in Wythall by Midland Red buses in the 1960s but LD8s somehow always avoided me, so I was pleased to ride on one at long last. As if more proof was ever needed here is a shot of 4031 which is only just in frame, but shows...

Re: BaMMOT Event day Monday 29 August 2016

That Seddon coach looks the dog's whatsits. 8-) It goes like a scalded cat - just over 8 litres of V8 power with 170 BHP at 2,800 RPM and naturally aspirated too, giving that lovely thrum of all 'V' configuration engines rising to a howling crescendo! Believe it or not the coach has a completely fl...

Re: BaMMOT Event day Monday 29 August 2016

I was also at Wythall on Monday - and not living far away I was able to get there and back entirely by bus, which added to the enjoyment! I agree totally with Tim. My first ride was on BCT 2548 which really is in beautiful condition. LD8 4031 was also immaculate and a joy to ride on. I used to trav...

Re: BaMMOT Event day Monday 29 August 2016

Great pics as always Tim :) Yes, your excellent photos, Tim, inspire me to attend more rallies and museums. I too, will have to ride 3744 sometime. One December in the early 60's, I boarded a similar Midland Red bus at the New Inn on the Ombersley Road, - on private hire to a pantomime in Malvern. ...

BaMMOT Event day Monday 29 August 2016

Good to see LD8 4031 SHA 431 back on the road. Enjoyed a trip on S12 3744 NHA 744 and SON 2418 GHA 337. Had a ride on Wartime Daimler CWA6 Utility lowbridge double decker CCX 777 new to Huddersfield in 1945 - this bus went very well with a small AEC 7.7 litre engine. Birmingham Guy Arab 2548 must be...

Re: Gaydon Buses Festival 2016

Three buses from FMR will be heading to Gaydon tomorrow. Alas 67647 will not be making it's first public outing in Urban2 livery as planned because it isn't back from the paint shop yet, so Volvo 66692 will be taking it's place. The line up, cleaned and ready to go... A few more photos of the Gaydo...
