Re: Padmore Street garage January 1961.

From what I have been told, the two-floor Engineering office block was demolished and rebuilt in the early 1980s. The new single-floor building is the one that still stands today and had purpose built facilities for emptying the toilets from coaches, which were required to reverse alongside the buil...

Re: Padmore Street garage January 1961.

That is a great photo!

I had no idea the pits at the "traffic office" end of the building dated back so far. I had always though they were put in during the NBC era when the internal walls were built.

Thanks for posting, Tim.

Re: Dudleys Coaches to close at end of year

Bit of an update... First have not won anything new from the close of Dudleys, however the contracts that First already had required duplication buses due to social distancing, and these have until now been sub-contracted out to Dudleys by First. It looks like First will now be doing the duplication...

Re: The first Leyland National

I remember "helping" to change the destination blind on 544 at Wythall a few years ago. It was a real pig of a job and you have to wonder if Leyland expected their customers to update blinds over time, or did they just assume the same blind would stay in the vehicle for life! For this reason I doubt...

Re: Dudleys Coaches to close at end of year

I'm told First Worcester have won some additional school work as a result of the Dudleys closure, and they are taking on a few more staff. I don't have any further details at the moment though.

Re: Retirement event 31 May 2014

I remember the old Gloucester Bus Station from when I used to drive the 372/3 route from Worcester. It was closed in October 2018, so I never drove in there for Stagecoach as I started with them in January 2019. When I left Stagecoach in June 2020, the old bus station was simply a huge mount of rubb...

Re: Bus Fire

There is a picture on the Kidderminster Matters Facebook page which shows it smoking on the Island on the entry lane to the garage. Search for the Facebook page "Kidderminster News TV" and you will find a full video of the bus going up in flames right outside the depot. Engineers rushed out to try ...

Re: 33401 etc.

Meanwhile, the transfer if the Tridents to Essex has been planed for months, if not years, so it's not like you didn't have time to say goodbye! Remind me please , why are "Essex" so keen on our Tridents ??? I have just checked and they already have quite a few . . . . :ugeek: Maybe that's th...
