When it first became known that Midland Red West had become part of the new First group, I hoped that it would lead to the re-introduction of double-deckers to WR depot, and, after a gap of 26 years 38083 - a Volvo Citybus DD was "acquired" for use on a school service. -- -- I then hoped that more DDs would be acquired and used on public services before or after school work, and after about 2 years, a pair of these low-height Leyland Olympians was acquired, and I got my long-awaited local ride on a DD in public service on a 44 service from Malvern Link to Worcester (after it had done the S40). -- -- I also saw them in use, after PM school work, on the 28 between Crowngate and County Hall.
