Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) first introduced route numbers for their motor omnibus services towards the end of 1913, and it is believed Service 1 was intended for the Hagley Road route. However, that route had been withdrawn on Friday 5th September 1913, with the introduction of trams by the Birmingham Corporation, and therefore route number 1 was not used.
