Almost sure that this photo taken in St Margaret's Bus station Leicester. If you look at the sign on top of the large building behind the bus it states Abbey Motor Motel which ties in with Leicester as Abbey Street still exists running at right angles to the rear of 133 and the bus station. Abbey Street runs into Charles Street where the many of the First Bus Leicester services now start and terminate.

I don't know the area now, never mind 40+ years ago, but I'm sure I've seen other similar photos credited as such so I'll update to say that.
