Service 550: Timetable Changes

Deregulation of Bus Services in England, Scotland and WalesShow All
On Sunday 26th October 1986, bus services in England, Scotland and Wales (but not London) were deregulated. Midland Red (West) Limited made a large number of changes to services in all of their operating areas, and expanded into the Birmingham and Black Country area by re-opening Birmingham (Digbeth) depot.
- As part of a renumbering exercise in the Evesham area to avoid route number duplications with new services in the Birmingham and Black Country areas, Service 250, Service 251 and Service 271 (Worcester, Pershore and Evesham) are withdrawn and replaced by new Service 550, Service 551 and Service 571, running over the same routes with similar running times.

- Service 550 Evesham to Worcester journey departing at 07:45 now arrives at Worcester Bus Station at 08:35. Other times remain unchanged.

- All Service 550 and Service 551 journeys now run via Three Springs Road and Defford Road.

Hereford depot closedShow All
At the end of operation on Saturday 5th September 2015, Hereford depot was closed with all services operated from that site being withdrawn. From the follow day, a number of services operated from Worcester depot were also changed.
- New Limited Stop Service X50 introduced operating hourly Monday to Saturday, direct between Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Bidford and Alcester. This new service mostly departs Worcester at times previously operated by Service 550.
- Almost all journeys on Service 550 are withdrawn and replaced by new Limited Stop Service X50. Only a two morning journeys Service 550 between Worcester and Evesham (one in each direction) and one short Pershore Horticultural College to Worcester afternoon journey remain.
15th October 2017
On Sunday 15th October 2017, First Midland Red Buses Limited revise most of their services, with minor changes in the Worcester City Area and on Service 144 and Service 144A, and a new network of services for Pershore and Evesham areas, and for Malvern area.
- New network of services linking Worcester, Pershore and Evesham. Service X50 now runs direct between Evesham and Pershore on all journeys. Service 382, Service 550 and Service 551 are all withdrawn and replaced by new Service 51, Service 52, Service 53, Service 54 and Service S51. The new network is known as “The 50sâ€,
