Service 22: Timetable Changes

Crowngate Bus Station (Phase 1) openShow All
At the end of operations on Sunday 8th September 1991, Angel Place Bus Station in Worcester is closed. From the start of operations on Monday 9th September 1991, Phase 1 of the new Crowngate Bus Station is opened with all Worcester Citibus services being re-routed to start and finish at the new site. Services using Newport Street Bus Station continue to use that site but are re-routed to additionally call in Crowngate to and/or from Newport Street. From the same date, existing bus stops at The Cross and Broad Street are taken out of use to allow pedestrianisation of these streets.
- Worcester Citibus Service 21, Service 21A, Service 22, Service 38, and Service 38A are re-routed to start and finish in Crowngate Bus Station at Stand I.

New Warwickshire servicesShow All
A new contract to operate services in Warwickshire is won by First Midland Red Buses Limited, starting on Monday 5th February 2001. These new routes are operated from Evesham depot.
- New Warwickshire Service 21, Service 21A, and Service 22 are introduced between Stratford-upon-Avon and Moreton-in-Marsh.
- New Warwickshire Service 522 is introduced as a variation to Service 22, running via Broad Marston, Pebworth and Long Marston, and continuing to Leamington Spa on schooldays.

Worcester City and Droitwich Spa Network ChangesShow All
From Sunday 3rd November 2002, First Midland Red Buses Limited make a number of changes to their bus services in the Worcester City and Droitwich Spa area.
- Service 22 between Worcester, Chawson and Droitwich Spa frequency reduced from every 30-minutes to every hour. Service 22A is extended to Droitwich Spa and replace remaining off-peak Service 22 journeys.

- Revised Service 22 timetable with one journey withdrawn.
18th April 2004
On Sunday 18th April 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a large number of changes to their bus services in Worcestershire. These are a result of both efficiencies introduced by the company and by changes to Worcestershire County Council subsidy strategy.
- New Service 22 and Service 22A timetable with reduced number of journeys. These services no longer continue to or from Newtown Hospital.
12th June 2005
- Service 22 and Service 22A (Worcester, Claines and Droitwich Spa) is withdrawn by First Midland Red Buses Limited. Worcestershire County Council issue a contract for replacement services which is won by Astons Coaches.
18th September 2005
- “Worcester Express†Service W2 and Service W3 journeys that do not operate as Limited Stop (running on Sundays and during the morning and evening off-peak period on other days) are renumbered to new Service 22 and Service 23. These journeys also run via Canterbury Road and normal Worcester City fares apply for children and OAPs (under 19s and OAP continue to travel for free on “Worcester Express†Service W1, Service W2 and Service W3).

- Worcester City circular Service X22, Service X23, Service 22 and Service 23 group are withdrawn and replaced by new Service 31A (anti-cloackwise) and Service 31C (clockwise).
