Service 44A: Service History

Service 44A (2007— )

Operated by First Midland Red Buses Limited

Service 44A was introduced by First Midland Red Buses Limtied in December 2007, as a variation to Service 44 and to partly replace withdrawn local Malvern Service 41 and Service 43. The route ran the same as Service 44 between Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Worcester City Centre and Malvern Link, but then continued via Malvern Link Rail Station and Belmont to Great Malvern.

Buses would then change to Service 44 for the return to Worcester, or visa-versa. Both services were operated ever 30-minutes in each direction, inter-worked to give a 15-minute frequency between Worcester and Malvern Link.

Service 44A (2014)

Operated by First Midland Red Buses Limited

In addition to the Service 44A running between Worcester and Great Malvern, operated by Worcester depot, from Monday 31st March 2014, First Midland Red Buses Limited also operated a service between Hereford and Ross-On-Wye with the same route number.

This version of Service 44A was operated by Hereford depot as part of a short-term contract won from Herefordshire Council. The contract ended on Sunday 31st August 2014, and the service was withdrawn by First Midland Red at this time.
