Service 44 was introduced in 1989, replacing service 344, when the Worcester
“Citibus” minibus network was extended to include The Malverns,
although due to high demand only certain journeys were operated with minibuses.
Off-peak journeys terminated at Great Malvern, while peak-time journeys continued to Link Top.
From 2008, most daytime Service 44 journeys change to Service 44A at Great Malvern and return to Worcester via Link Top and Belmont. Early morning and evening journeys terminate at Link Top.
Frequency of every 30-minutes in each direction from
1989.
Frequency increased to every 20-minutes.
Frequency increased to every 15-minutes.
Frequency reduced to every 30-minutes with the introduction
of Service 44A inter-worked with Service 44 to provide a 15-minute frequency
of certain parts of the route.
