My cousin and I have been exchanging e-mails wanting the existing two metre social distancing reduced to one metre on the railways and buses to increase capacity by 100% and encourage people to travel again using public transport rather than cars. My take is that it should have been introduced last Monday 15 June 2020 along with the new demand to wear masks/face covering. Whilst he is a rail enthusiast he sent me this link to National Express website giving regulations and conditions relating to the restart of services from Wednesday 1 July 2020 with these comments from my cousin;

(Quote) The diagrams imply that they will restrict seating to window seats only. This would comply with two metre distancing to the left and right, but I doubt there would be a one metre separation fore and aft. Perhaps this is the maximum that will be allowed, and they will further restrict ticket sales and tape-off further sets of seats - or perhaps they know something that we don't! (Unquote)
