On the front page today, there are two pics of me "in the seat". The first one shows me at Callow End in 256, about to reverse and go back to Worcester. After that, it was a 310 to Clifton on Teme, before the X43 up the motorway to Birmingham, a return trip to Bromsgrove on the 145, and then in the second picture of 336 in Birmingham Bus Station, waiting to form the 2310 145 all the way to Worcester. This was the last day of MRW operating the and several drivers were trying to get this duty - I won! The best part was having 336, but the previous driver had to endure it for 4 hours on Malvern locals - his arms were sore after that. My thanks for fellow admin Chris Sampson for the photos - I can't believe that it was 33 years ago, it seems like only yesterday!

Two superb pictures and very grateful that people were taking such photos back then in the pre digital age.I was brought up on Nationals and Leopards and this was the time I started to take an interest in buses so theses images bring back very happy memories :D :D

By the way I have a 7x5 print of that photo of 256 which I bought at a bus rally probably sometime in the 90's.Not sure if the owner of the image is aware it was being sold or maybe it was them I purchased it off :?:

bmmoboy, you were definitely driving 336 but not 256 as that was me. At that time in 1986 I was on a fixed week big bus rota because my tin leg wasn't able to push a clutch pedal on a 608 minibus. The attached log of turns, routes and buses driven was scrawled at the time and a genuine record of my experiences at the time. Having been out of bus driving for 15 years, it does however feel as if it was another person altogether driving 256 33 years ago!

Tim - you're absolutely right - I had forgotten that the last 145 was on a Friday night and I had been at my full time job during the day.
