...I hope that will not lead to a reduction in the number of DDs !
(I know they are mainly on school services that are "Commercial")
- 33042 currently looks "a bit like scrap" parked in the corner of the patch, but I expect it's just broken...
I have seen rumours on Facebook that two of the 330xx Tridents are soon heading to First Kernow but I am not able to confirm this, one way or another. 33042 decided to drop all of it's oil on the floor on Monday and had to be recovered by tow truck. Not sure of the cause yet, but I'm sure we will find out soon.

THAT'S what I like about this forum ! --- almost instant answers quite often, and sometimes advance warnings of disappointments !

I hope if we lose any of the old Tridents, that they will be replaced by 74-seaters (or thereabouts).
Unfortunately, Leicester has now lost ALL of it's older Volvo B7TLs,so we wont be getting any more of those. :(

33039 and 33043 are both going to First Kernow at the end of the school year, and we were supposed to be keeping 33042. 33043 has had a lot work done on her by MechWR26 and is by far the best of the trio, but the decision has been made from above, so get a ride on it before it's too late.

Thanks bmmoboy for all your posts and replies.

Do you know if we are keeping the S45 and S55, beyond September ?

I have just received a text message from WR1st to say he's spotted one of the 330xx Tridents being recovered to the depot by tow truck. He didn't say which one but I don't think 33042 is back on the road from its failure Monday so it looks like that is two or the three off the road now. :o

OK, just had a follow-up text from him. He's not 100% sure but thinks it could be 33042. Maybe the engineers have worked on it but things have not gone to plan.

Just caught a 32 from my home off Bath Road to the City and saw 33039 heading the other way so that is still on the road. Called in the depot to see the boss and 33043 was parked outside nose-in which is normally a bad sign, and 33042 was parked inside with work being done on the engine.

Bumped into the engineering manager and he confirmed two Tridents are going to Kernow but didn't know (or wouldn't say) which two.

33043 is out in service today, but 33042 is still in the depot with the engine in bits.

33042 still parked indoors with most of the engine in bits. I suspect they are waiting parts.

Meanwhile I can now confirm they will not be replaced at Worcester so the double-deck allocation will reduce by two. One likely "saving" will be the Service 363 that is run with a double-deck for the Hanley Castle School journeys, as numbers are expected to fall for next terms intake. The journey will still run but will be a single-deck.

You can stay in bed later if you know you have one of the President bodied Tridents and just have a shower in the cab :)
