Steam & Diesel charters at Worcester
Yesterday morning, Saturday 29 June 2024, Worcester Shrub Hill was a pick-up station for the Mazey Day Statesman to Penzance hauled by D1924 (47810) 'Crewe Diesel Depot' and 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer'.
Then this morning, Sunday 30 June 2024, Vintage Trains Shakespeare Express arrived at Worcester Shrub Hill from Tyseley as empty coach stock and unnamed 47773 hauling the train with GWR 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' at the rear being towed in reverse to enable it to be facing the correct direction for the journey to Stratford-upon-Avon via Bromsgrove and the Lickey incline. This arrangement obviated the time consuming journey around the Worcester triangle usually performed to turn the train around.

Today, Wednesday 3 July 2024, GBRf (GB Railfreight) 47727 named 'Edinburgh Castle' on one side, 'Caisteal Dhun Eideannn' on the other, ran through the Worcester back road en route from Leicester L.I.P to Long Marston. It was due to haul a rake of Class 701 units to Wembley but this working was cancelled for whatever reason at the last minute.
A little later in the morning 37418 'An Comunn Gaidhealach' (Voluntary Gaelic Language Organisation), in Loram (track maintenance equipment and service provider company) livery, ran through Worcester Shrub Hill platform 2 hauling Directors coach 'Caroline' on a circuitous trip from Derby RTC to Gloucester via Bristol, Swindon, Oxford and Worcester again!
