Forthcoming Fleet changes

There are some changes coming up to the fleet at Worcester.

Firstly, the 6669x Plaxton Volvos are leaving, destination unknown, however the one with seat belts will be staying.

Also, some of the Citaros are going to be withdrawn, mainly due to the poor state of the chassis, don’t know which ones yet, but probably the older ones.

The sole Dennis Dart is also to be withdrawn, due to its overall mechanical condition.

The replacements are 66 plate Enviro 2 single deckers, from Southampton, no details on how many yet.

DD12 - you’re ok, there are no planned changes in the double deck fleet.

I’ll post further details when available.

Thanks for the news. It will be interesting to see what livery the E200's carry. ;)

It be intresting to see what liverys they are in but surely can`t be any worse than multicoloured ones at the moment. From looking at what is down in the South Area regarding 66 plate enviros they seem to be the MMC`s but could be wrong

There are plans to repaint all the Citaros and Deckers into the latest fleet livery (whatever that is!) over the next few months.

I assume that the five 'Nimrod' liveried Citaros will remain in that livery as all the bus stops on 35 route have only recently been changed to dedicated purple livery. Guess that the two spare bus liveried Citaros will also keep their livery as they have been converted to Euro 6 exhaust emission standard; though this is no longer needed for the Birmingham section of 144!

On the topic of exhausts, I hope the Enviro200/MMC buses from Southampton will be to Euro 6 standard for a cleaner, safer City centre!

Yes Tim, I believe that all E200mmc’s are Euro6 as standard because they were produced 2015 onwards. However, I could be mistaken!
On another note - I am amazed that for once Worcester is replacing older with newer! (for many years it has been the other way round!!)

So this is now beginning to make sense.

Ten ex-Hoeford E200 MMC - part of a batch being replaced by new Streetlites on the Eclipse BRT services in Gosport/Fareham - had begun transferring to Potteries last month (67172/73/78/79 were the first four), which seemed odd as they are refurbishing a large batch of Streetlites for their mainline services, and it didn't appear that they had any need for these E200s.

Going to Worcester makes far more sense. There are a lot of cascades across the group going on at the moment, with more to come as more mid-life vehicles (a number of E200s are being bought on the secondhand market) and new vehicles come into the group across the year - clearly Worcester is the next target for modernisation (and hopefully a better, more coherent image than the ragbag at the moment, particularly the Citaros).
