Charter trains at Stafford Saturday 13 April 2019.

Diesel locomotive 67028 is seen at Stafford circa 9 am hauling a New Street to Carlisle charter to Crewe where steam locomotive 60163 'Tornado' was due to work the train forward.

Bo-Bo electric locomotive 86259/E3137 in original blue livery is seen working through Stafford at approx. 9-20 am with a London Euston to Blackpool charter. This 4000 HP locomotive carries the names of 'Peter Pan' on one side and 'Les Ross' on the other.

This 'Northern Belle' charter train from Manchester Victoria to Cardiff is seen at 9-35 am at Stafford with 57313 on the front and 57601 at the rear.

Recently repainted steam locomotive 70000 'Britannia' is pictured in Stafford at 10-15 am whilst working a charter from Preston to Stratford-upon-Avon.

Either incredibly lucky or, more likely, extremely well planned to see so many charters in one place. Some excellent shots there so thank you, Tim.

An avid rail enthusiast, photographer and railway worker told me the day before that Stafford would be a preservation charter mecca, so I checked on Realtime Trains website and booked a Midland Day Ranger ticket and after Stafford I had a ride over the recently completed Norton Junction avoidance flyover on a 'wonderful' Voyager. I was amazed at the length of this loop and the amount of land it occupies. I returned via Stoke, Crewe and Coventry and had a quick peek at Kenilworth station with its peculiar fence taking up much of the platform whilst riding the single car 153 from Coventry to Leamington.
