Replacement Coaches for Worcester

Post by AdamH » 19:25 Wednesday 9th January 2019

I've received an update from First regarding the two replacement coaches that were announced a few weeks ago... They are expected to arrive at Worcester "later this week."

They should also be in a new(ish) livery for Worcester.

Although I don't start my new job until next week, and therefore have some free time, I think it's a bit soon for me to start poking around Worcester depot trying to get photos when they arrive, so I will need to rely on other members for that. Hint! 😜

When I got to thinking about "work" for the second (extra) coach, it's thrown-up a couple of questions :-

I thought that prior to the October 2017 Bus Graph, Pershore area school contracts used 3 vehicles -- -- 2 "yellow turkeys", and a full size single-decker ( - previously 20201) -- (?)

However, when looking at the Bus Graph, I can see that just the 2 BMCs are allocated to the C14, C16, and C25 (also known as the PS14, 16, and 25), BUT I cannot see any third vehicle allocated to Pershore area school contracts, so can anyone tell me if that work is now just the two yellow school buses ??

(And /or, do First have any other school contracts in the area ?)

No change to school work since September except for route changes around Warndon Villages to help balance out the loads on the S1-S4 routes. I didn't get a chance to drive the revised routes before I left so I don't know if it worked.

It should be noted that the existing coach stands in for the yellow school buses if they off the road for any reason. I see no reason the "new" ones can't and maybe also fill in for one of the double-decks if needed... Maybe when 33043 departs.

I did put this question to the scheduler before Christmas but he misunderstood what I was asking and ended up talking about something totally unrelated!

Surprised nobody asked about this, but it has more than a hint of the "Spare Bus" livery to it so that might suggest it will stand-in on school services when not needed for Rail Replacement and Private Hire work.

To me , this look's better on a coach than a bus. Is this just a mock up or does it show the actual type of coach we are getting ?? 8-)

The fleet list I published on here in November (supplied by First) showed 20370 and 20371 as coming to Worcester. I don't know if that is still correct, but they are the correct body type, except that they are standard height and the graphics appear to show the taller "highline" body style.

The graphics I published above we produced by Ray Stenning of Best Impressions, who have designed all of the recent liverys for Worcester depot. They were also supplied to me from First, so I would imaging they are taking the idea seriously.

Thanks Adam. So we should/could get 20370 - CV55AGY and 20371 - CV55AMX. Both new to First Cymru but appear to have spent most of the time at Depot's in Scotland. There is a nice photo on Flickr taken by Jamie Martin in November 2011 of both coaches side by side in Galashiels bus station [next to a yellow school bus] - a sign of things to come ?? ?? ;)

With the arrival of these coaches, does this mean that 20202 will be withdrawn or will she carry on working for worcester alongside the new two

When I zoomed into the picture I noticed that they have put the fleetnumber on the coach! I was surprised as it was neither of the ones we initially thought... It shows 20611 (LK07 CDE) This coach is the same body and has most recently operated for First Berkshire (like the citaro’s) And looking at the First Berkshire fleet list there is also 20612 & 20613.

So maybe we will be getting 2 or maybe even 3 different coaches to the ones we originally thought... :D
