Stolen Bus!

Post by AdamH » 08:18 Saturday 24th November 2018

One of the yellow school buses was stolen off the patch in the early hours of this morning (CCTV says 02:09). They tried and failed to start several vehicles before they got the school bus going. A large hole has been made in the fence has been left where they reversed out without opening the gate.

The bus has GPS tracking (they all do) and has been recovered.

I hope First will "up" the security at the depot ( - there's a "very valuable" old bus inside !)

There are very often, unsavoury characters who gather at the canal footbridge
at the end of Padmore Street.

This reminds me of the 1980's, where on three occasions, a coach was taken from the patch, and each time it was recovered from Grimley, undamaged. The third time this happened, some engineers were standing having a cup of tea in the doorway of the garage, and saw a coach being driven down Padmore Street, they didn't take much notice as vehicles would often go to the garage to refuel or to be washed, but they were only concerned when the vehicle indicated left at the end of the road. "That's not like one of our drivers", one of the engineers muttered!!!!

Did they really think they would get away with it! 😂😂 I hope that they didn’t touch any of the Mercedes! I’m glad they only managed to start up the school bus though!

Even the engineers struggle to get them started, so they're safe! 🤣

Work has started on fixing the school bus (47520 has been moved outside to make room). With the engine in the front, it looks like there is nothing at all behind those damaged panels so I guess it will be an easier job than I first through. I think the drivers on the school rota were hoping it would be written off!
