Well they didn't warn the drivers the system was live so on the first day it was quite successful in giving one driver the shock of his life! It uses the GPS signal from the ticket machine to work out which stop is next and announce the names of the bus stop as the vehicle approaches. So one dark, wet morning a driver of an empty bus suddenly heard a female voice saying "the next stop is..." 😲

Luckily he managed to compose himself and keep it on the road, otherwise it would have been a very interesting conversation with the Staff Manager explaining the crash... "It's the voices in my head, they made me do it!" 😱

I'm using the 144 most weekdays at the moment. The green Volvos are very comfy but what is it with the streetlights, much newer but don't seem to be anywhere near the same build quality!

63360 has such a vibration from the engine I thought u was sitting in a massage chair! ;)

I noticed that today in the 'history' section on the homepage that there is a picture of (69435 - WX59 BYM) It was the first green Volvo to arrive at Worcester from Thorntons, making it a year ago today that the first one arrived!
The year has certainly gone quick as far as I'm concerned! :o

Plenty of StreetLites on the 144/144A late this morning . Has any one recorded a Mercedes Citaro on the Salt Road yet?

None of hem have been out on the road yet, so that's unlikely. However, the day is still young! 🙄

I guess the drivers need to get familiar with a different type of vehicle . :)

On Wednesday, 69449 is being sent to Millbrook vehicle testing centre to be tested for Euro6 emmisions standards. Hopefully it will come away with a nice certificate and will be officially reclassified as a Euro6 vehicle. If all goes to plan the remaining Salt Road buses will follow early in the New Year.

All of these have been to Birmingham to have work done for the conversion, but over the last few days 69449 has had additional word done at Worcester by an outside contractor. Not sure who has done what and why, so maybe Mechwr26 will be able to update us...

The road markings do say Bus Stop as opposed to Buses Only but I cannot ever remember seeing a bus stop sign there. As the saying goes , "you live and learn". :)
At some stage [ no pun ] during today , the road markings for this stop have moved around 70 yards in a westerly direction. I guess the flag sign will do the same in due course. :) :geek:
