Recently delivered 9 coach Class 800/3 IET (Intercity Express Train) is seen arriving at Evesham station en route from Great Malvern to London Paddington. Despite looking good, these units have very hard seating lacking any cushioning which is 'enhanced', emphasised perhaps, by harsh riding qualities - not a patch on the HST they are replacing.

Pleased to see the photos are now working.

Looks like Stagecoach are slowly taking over in Evesham... I wonder if they are hiring? 😜

I don't know how well Stagecoach are doing financially on the X18, but the loadings of buses arriving and departing Evesham seemed very low to me. I couldn't see anyone riding in the upper decks - but being old and disabled I can understand that and also note similar situation on my local 37 route and also on Dines Green 30 route. Traffic was very heavy in Evesham High Street, so I can only assume that most shoppers have, and use, their own transport, just like Worcester.

I did glimpse a First Worcester Volvo Plaxton Centro 666xx coming in from Waterside when I walked round to the gents, but it must have made a very quick turnaround as it had returned to Worcester when I got back to the bus station a couple of minutes later.

Is there any reason why all the independent operators working into Evesham are painted white? At one time N.N. Cresswell had a pleasing bright blue livery - perhaps it is cheaper to specify all over white?

Saturday is comparatively a poor day on the X18. A year or two ago Stagecoach dropped some late afternoon Saturday journeys. The service has a commercial Sunday service (though no evening service) but overall it would indicate that it's ok. I think the X18 is quite a service, mostly half-hourly Evesham to Coventry, and it also provides a town service across the river for Evesham. Evesham is a town First Midland Red mostly gave up on and, it seems to me, is still giving up.The 144 has the history and the X18 hasn't. OK, there isn't a railway line to Coventry, as there is to Worcester. I look back on the X50 initial hourly service to Alcester, non-stop to Bidford (so no passengers available en route), competing against Stagecoach and Diamond and I ask, what was that all about? If only First had instead tried half hourly to Evesham, because it's the half hourly service which is key to the X18.

As for hiring, you may have to wait till they take over First Worcester. After all, Midland Reds North and East got together.
