Derelict BMMO vehicles
Derelict BMMO vehicles
I took this photo from the dark side of the museum yesterday. It shows a BMMO S6 and two BMMO D9s all heavily cannibalised to provide parts to keep other buses on the road. I believe the D9 in the far corner is 5360, but can anyone tell me the identification of the other two vehicles please.
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
A long way up this thread, I also asked what the "3" derilect buses were, parked in this corner -- I don't know whether there was a fourth one there at that time -- is it a non-Midland Red (?)
Mr 943KHA kindly identified the three I saw as 5360, 5341, and 3039 !

Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
The forth bus on the right of the photograph is a non-Midland Red Leyland National.
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
"That's funny" -- I noticed the remaining "architecture" under the side windows looked a bit like a Leyland National and I almost put that in my post - "as a joke" -- I have never before seen one in that state of decay !!
-- rather sad, because when new to the scene in 1972/73 the nationals looked like the "most modern bus in the world" to me, and only a short time after seeing the first photos of one in a trade/industry newspaper, WR depot got 8 of them !
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
If you think that particular National is a little bit 'rough' then you should have seen our ex tyres store National that went to the great scrapyard in the sky just before Easter; we had to suspend lift it at the rear out of its home with the NBB Matador; the crane lift went up but the bus didn't......
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
Going slightly off topic here, but here we have six of the eight new to Worcester in 1973 that you mentioned...
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
A typical line up of Nationals, none of them leaning the same way........... When SD had their first allocation they soon learnt to wait for the air suspension to fully level before driving out of the garage where they had been 'feeler gauge' parked the night beforehand!
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
Thanks Gents; - I don't recall seeing that photo before, and I've not been aware of the leaning problem - - - as illustrated !!
Re: Derelict BMMO vehicles
Thanks Adam -- I was wondering about that, because of the appalling state of the "patch" before it was given it's proper surface !
I only became aware of any leaning problems, when WR first got it's Olympians !
