Rapido Trains Inc. spring a surprise with their first British Classic Bus OO scale model. Attached is a copy of the promotional leaflet and some pictures of the bus type involved plus some of the other preserved vehicles on show.

I must have just missed you yesterday Tim, as I got there around 2PM.

I was disappointed in the choice of the DD to scan and model, but doubtless lots of bus fans will buy it.
I enjoyed the museum however (and seeing "old friends" from the Worcester area) - - I'm very grateful to all the people whose hard work over the years, has made this possible.

Can anyone tell me what these four unidentified vehicles are, on site :-

In a distant corner, outside, are three derelict BMMOs - ie two D9s and one post-war single-decker ?

And, elsewhere, a Leyland PD chassis, (could it possibly be another LD8 ??)

As I don't take photos, it's enjoyable to see your top quality photos Tim, - giving me a pictorial record of my day-out !

DD12. You should have come and introduced yourself to 943KHA, I was about all day, somewhat scruffy as usual! The two D9's in the graveyard are both ex Obsolete Fleet, 5341 and 5360 (which was once a favourite SD bus of mine). Both are in use as stores and have been heavily cannibalised to keep the remainder going. The S6 is 3039, again as a spares shed and for parts (was well raided for 3744). The Leyland is not an LD8 but was ex Lytham Corporation, again well raided for 4031 and other PD2's in use at Wythall (nothing gets wasted!).

Thanks for the info. 943KHA.

I know that not all the regular exhibits are on site every time, and I don't remember seeing the D10 yesterday.

Something that some visitors might not like, is the way some vehicles are packed together so tightly indoors that it's even difficult to squeeze through to get an "up-close" look at them, but I am aware of some of the reasons and logistics for this, and I know that they get moved around (so I notice something different on each visit),
- it also reminds me of when I was extremely young, and used to "sneak-round" Midland Red garages to "spot" every bus+coach (or try-to) -
- a highly dangerous practice which, even in the pre- H+S era, was likely to result in a severe "b*ll*cking" if caught !

The D10 is in the sick bay! At present most of the lower saloon is stripped out and being refurbished by Mike Jordan, it also has a severe cylinder block coolant leak requiring either the engine to come out or removal of the nearside floor which given its poor state is probably the best option. Your comments re the cramped accommodation are noted and is giving us some angst on trying to extend the current buildings or build new, neither of which are cheap. We are also still extending the collection by virtue of purchasing vehicles from people who have recently passed to the great graveyard in the sky and ensuring that they do not fall into the 'wrong' hands.
