D9 5415 calls in Crowngate 11 April 2010.

Post by TimBrown » 11:11 Tuesday 28th April 2020

Ashley Wakelin ran BMMO D9 5415 EHA 415D for a number of years as part of his Coaching at Wheels preserved bus and coach business and operated this commemorative special 144 all the way from Birmingham to Malvern Wells just over 10 years ago on Sunday 11 April 2010. The bus was sold on to Initio Interactive, Speke in 02/15, then to Cherry, Maghull by 06/17 and then to a dealer by 02/19.

Does anyone know if it still exists and if so who owns it now?

Here is the photographic record of the brief visit to Crowngate Bus Station;

Note the very tall crane in the one shot indicating that building work had just commenced on the controversial golden 'Hive' building.

'Sold to dealer' sounded a bit ominous but pleased to say there's some pictures from June last year of her on Flickr.Seems it being used for events such as weddings.and is now owned by Aintree Coachline and previously by another similar company from that area.https://flic.kr/p/2gB4TS9

Thanks for the link, 5415 looks to be in well cared for condition; long may it remain so!

Yes, it has been through a variety of owners in the Liverpool area, it is still currently in Class VI test. Most of its maintenance has been done by a good independent repairer in the Liverpool area. I've been up there once or twice to help put with specialist knowledge and a supply of vital spare parts.........

I’ve been through quite a few times in the last 3 weeks doing rail replacement. Usually about 0400 on way empty to Great Malvern. Still got it until May 17th at least.....

...... and not to forget that it is one of TWO Midland Red double-deckers from 1966 that survive in good condition, - both of which have registration numbers "ending" in *HA415D !!

The other one of course being 6015 GHA415D :)

Would be good to get them together at Wythall sometime !

Also, am I correct in remembering "J.P." ("943KHA") that 6015 will likely only get a class 5 MOT certificate ??
