Scale Drawing needed

Post by Daler007 » 09:46 Thursday 7th February 2019

I am trying to look at "kit - bashing" a Revell plastic kit of a Routemaster. I am trying to use the parts to create a BMMO vehicle. The ones that may fit the profile would be either a D7, or an S17. Does anyone have any drawings (Plan and elevation), or accurate dimensions, including wheelbases of any BMMO bus?

Regret I don't have a scale drawing of a D7.
The following information is in Midland Red History Volume 2;
Width: 8 feet.
Wheelbase: 16 feet 3 inches.
Length: 26 feet 10.375 inches.
Unladen weight: 7 tons 2 cwt to 7 tons 7 cwt 1 qtr.
Early batches built as 58 seaters and modified to 63 seaters except 4400 which remained a 58 seater throughout. Later batches from 4453 onwards built as 63 seaters.

The Transport Museum at Wythall have an example of the real thing in form of 4482, currently on static display. I hope to live long enough to see it restored and back on the road, as I grew up using D7s as transport to school and on many bus and train spotting trips around the Midlands, when BMMO ran a fleet of nearly 2,000 vehicles.

The is a transport document archive near Droitwich which holds a vast amount of documents acquired when Midland Red was broken up. That would be my first port of call... http://kitheadtrust.org.uk/
