Agreed, that looks really good. I think they may have had a problem finding the correct destination equipment though!

The layout of the vehicles was much improved over last year's show but the judging methodology left me very puzzled....

It is many years since I was involved in bus preservation, but I seem to remember that the judges did a similar set of checks to modern day 'walk around checks' i.e. lights, horn, interior bells, emergency door warning, seat condition and tyre condition. They would also look at the engine compartment and underneath the vehicle, asked for engine to be revved up to check smoke levels. I assume they were also assessing the overall condition and authenticity of the livery, we were often asked how much of the restoration was carried out by group members and whether the bus was kept in a garage or outside. I believe most rally organisers marked the above criteria out of 10, the highest total being winner of the class; quite how best of show was assessed I don't know. The judges back then were usually involved in the PSV industry from the management, engineering or bodywork disciplines.

That is much like what I would have expected but at Showbus, you had to provide a mobile phone number so the judge(s) could arrange to meet you at your vehicle so they could have a close look, inside and underneath.

Except they never did......
